Station History

WFXS, FOX55 - WFXS FOX55 began broadcasting to North Central Wisconsin on December 1st, 1999 as this market’s first local FOX affiliate. The station serves nearly 200,000 homes and 500,000 people via Cable, Satellite and over-the-air on UHF Channel 55.

WFXS is owned by Davis Television Wausau, LLC. Davis Television’s Managing Partner, John Davis, is the well known Producer of hundreds of popular Hollywood Films and TV Specials.

WFXS’s syndicated program line-up, built around the strength of the FOX TV network, offers an outstanding variety of programs geared to young adults (under 55) and their families. This younger core audience is also the most coveted demographic sought by all major advertising categories.

Originally licensed on UHF channel 55 with 5,000,000 watts of power (the maximum allowed by the FCC), we transitioned to digital TV in February of 2009 on UHF channel 31 with an EIRP of 685 kW of power. Currently on UHF channel 31, WFXS TV55 has 3 program streams.
