Cash For Clothes, Electronics, More

(MYFOX NATIONAL) - Cash for Clunkers has come and gone. But you can still make cash on other items in your household. From clothing to electronics, here's a list of how you can make some dough.

Cash For Refrigerators
This fall a program similar to Cash For Clunkers will be rolled out by the federal government . Businessweek reports that the program will reportedly authorize rebates of $50 to $200 for purchases of high-efficiency household appliances. Officials are hoping the program will revive the struggling home appliance industry and help save energy at the same time. "These rebates will help families make the transition to more efficient appliances, making purchases that will directly stimulate the economy," Energy Secretary Steven Chu said in a statement.

Cash For Baby Products
Toys R Us is offering parents 20 percent off certain products for trading in their used cribs, car seats and other baby products.

"I think this is one of many actions needed to get older, unsafe or recalled items out of use," Nancy Cowles, executive director of the safety advocacy group Kids in Danger told WalletPop . "I appreciate Toys R Us addressing the issue."

The trade-in program will begin at Toys R Us and Babies R Us stores on Friday, August 28, and run through Sept. 20.

Cash For Gold
So-called "gold parties " and Web sites like Cash4Gold.com and GetGoldCash.com are offering money to those who trade in their gold jewelry, coins and more. MyGoldParty.com, which teaches people how to host their own gold parties, distributes payments in the following way -- the partygoer gets 75 percent of the value of the gold he/she brings in, 10 percent goes to the party host, 10 percent goes to the party representative and 5 percent goes to the refinery that melts it down.

The sites will let you mail in your items that will be assessed by the company and then, voila, you'll get a check in the mail.

Cash For Clothes
It isn't a new concept, but as many face a shortage of cash, it might be worthwhile to go through your closet to see what you can cash in on. Stores like the Buffalo Exchange and Crossroads Trading Company will pay you for items you no longer want. For instance Crossroads will pay you 35 percent of the price the store will eventually sell your item for.

Cash For Electronics
Gazelle.com and BuyMyTronics.com are just some of many sites offering cash for your unused cell phones, laptops, camcorders and more. Both companies work similarly -- they calculate what it will offer you for your item based on its condition and manuals, batteries, cables and other components that go with it. The price paid depends on the fair market value for the item.
