(MYFOX NATIONAL) - A European commercial featuring Adolf Hitler having unprotected sex, which is set to be released on Dec. 1, or World AIDS Day , is being condemned by AIDS charities, according to London’s Daily Telegraph .
The commercial tries to scare people into using condoms by using the image of Hitler to portray AIDS as a mass murderer. The campaign also features posters of other notorious dictators Saddam Hussein and Joseph Stalin.
Some HIV and AIDS charities are trying to distance themselves from the ad saying they don't agree with it.
"Of course there are many HIV organizations that run their own campaigns, however, I think the ad is incredibly stigmatizing to people living with HIV who already face much stigma and discrimination due to ignorance about the virus," a spokeswoman for the National AIDS Trust, which coordinates World Aids Day in Britain, said.
The commercial was produced by das Comitee , a German advertising agency on behalf of a German AIDS Awareness group. The agency defended itself on the "AIDS Is a Mass Murder" Web site .
In Germany, the videos will be broadcast on television stations starting next week, but only after 9 p.m. because of their sexual content.
An ad comparing President Bush and Hitler in 2004 had to be removed from the MoveOn.org Web site after Republican groups and Jewish organizations expressed outrage over the ad.
