WAUSAU (WAOW) - The Wisconsin Woodchucks saw their season draw to a close with a playoff loss in Eau Claire Thursday night.  But by Friday afternoon, there was already an air of anticipation for the 2011 season in the Chucks' clubhouse.  As players leave town to go back to school, both owner Clark Eckhoff and manager Guido Aspeitia spoke highly of the team chemistry.  They told Newsline 9 that as many as eight of this summer's core players were on board to return next June.

The Woodchucks broke the club record for wins this season.  A 6-game losing streak at the end of the first half kept them from winning the South Division first-half championship, but they rebounded in the late stages of the season.  The team won 10 of their last 11 games, locking up the division's second playoff spot on the final day of the regular season.  After winning their postseason opener on the road at division champion Eau Claire, they dropped the next two to lose the 3-game series.

For the season, Wisconsin lead the Northwoods League in homeruns and finished 2nd in stolen bases.
