The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters took a lead early on a Josh Cyr home run, but a total of 15 runs and five home runs later, the Battle Creek Bombers came out on top 10-6 Sunday afternoon.
An inning after Cyr's homer in the second, Rafters starter Tommy Danczyk allowed two runs to the Bombers on a double and a ground out in the third. A single run in the fourth inning gave Battle Creek a two run cushion.
The scoring really began late as the Bombers took advantage of three Rafters errors in the sixth to score three and take a 6-1 lead. Cyr's second home run of the game, a two run shot in the seventh brought the Rafters closer. The very next inning Daniel Rocket of the Bombers hit a solo home run and Battle Creek tacked on another to extend the lead back to five. Cyr ended the night 2-for-4 with three runs driven in.
Again, the Rafters tried to get off the mat in the eighth. Mark Strey hit his first home run of the season, a two run shot driving in Seth Wheeler. Not to be out done, the Bombers Troy White blasted his first home run of the year in the ninth to answer once more.
Danczyk is tabbed with the loss as the Rafters fall to 0-5 while starter Ben Ballentine gets the win for the Bombers who move to 4-1. The Rafters travel to Waterloo for three games to start the week before returning to Witter Field Thursday, June 99th for YMCA night at 7:05.
