WAUSAU--The Marathon County Parks Commission is working to keep its parks and recreation areas clean and green.
Local residents and groups interested in helping to keep the county's green areas in top shape are being asked to volunteer in the Adopt-A-Park program.
Volunteers agree to stop by their adopted park at least once every two weeks between May 1st and October 31st. They then fill out an online report that highlights any maintenance issues that may come up. That information is then sent directly to the Parks Commission who send workers to rectify any problems.
"Having the Adopt-A-Park program gives us a quick response to maintenance issues, or acts of nature that we can take care of" Marathon County Parks Superintendent Karyn Powers told Newsline 9.
Volunteers or groups willing to help keep Marathon County's Parks clean and green for future generations to enjoy can contact the Parks Commission at 715-261-1550 to sign up.
