WAUSAU (WAOW)--Mining means big business in Wisconsin, and lawyers from around the state gathered in Wausau Thursday to talk with the public about mining laws.
The panel and took place downtown at the Jefferson Street Inn. People learned about metallic and non-metallic mining including frac, or sand mining. Organizers said the main goal was to educate people about industry laws.
"A big role that the state bar can provide is to let people understand what the laws are in this area and provide them with some framework to channel their interest to be involved in these issues," said Event Chair Art Harrington.
Lawyers also discussed the permit process and mining laws regarding joint properties that share the potential for mining.
