Bus crash in Wausau sends student to hospital

WAUSAU (WAOW) -- A school bus crashed in Wausau Thursday afternoon, sending one student to the hospital.

The crash happened just before 2:30 p.m. near 9th Avenue and Chelis Street. Wausau police say the bus driver turned back to talk to a student. As the driver turned to look back at the road, police say, the bus hit a brick wall.  

A 12-year-old boy was taken to the hospital. There's no word on any injuries. Police say he was the only student on the bus at the time.

Wausau police say the bus driver was not cited. They say First Student owns the bus, but it's unclear which district the bus belonged to.
