(WAOW) - In the latest division five girls' basketball poll, Newman is the top ranked team. The Cardinals will face second-ranked Assumption on Thursday, but first they had to get by Edgar on Monday.

Newman jumped out to an early lead, but Holly Denfeld kept the Wildcats close with a game-high 23 points on the night. But the Cardinals held off Edgar's attempt at an upset, 56-48.

Taylor Varsho set Marshfield's school scoring record in the Tigers' latest win and the Colby boys' fell to league-leading Augusta on the road.
