WAUSAU (WAOW) -
From the classroom to the State House, the future 85th assembly representative said goodbye to her students before she heads to Madison.
Monday marked Mandy Wright's last day at Horace Mann Middle School. She's been teaching the sixth grade for one year.
Wright beat Republican Pat Snyder for the 85th Assembly seat during the November election.
On her last day, Wright thanked students and fellow teachers for what she called an amazing year. She said she's excited for the challenges ahead.
"There are so many things about representing the community. I think probably I am most excited about bringing this communities voice to Madison and really make sure that we stay focused on creating jobs, keeping our schools strong and making sure people have affordable health care," Wright said.
Wright will be sworn in January 7th at the state Capitol in Madison.
