EDGAR (WAOW) - Edgar School's Superintendent Dave Brandvold isn't happy about Skyward's contract loss.
"We felt strongly that a Wisconsin-based business would have a great opportunity to continue with the contract," said Brandvold.
The Stevens Point company was bidding for the opportunity to build a statewide student information system.
Brandvold said he's liked working with Skyward in his district.
"They've been problem solvers, if you have a problem, they find a solution to solve your issues," said Brandvold.
But he also said he wonders if the state considers more than just the bid amount.
"Implementation, infrastructure of the server itself will take a lot of money and for a lot of schools it's going to really put a strain on the school districts," said Brandvold.
In an e-mail, Patrick Gasper, a spokesperson for the State Department of Instruction said the bid process was open, fair and impartial.
He also said that all of the proposals for the project went through a review process to make sure the organization selected was in the best interest of taxpayers.
"We had a third party that evaluated the entire process, issued a very extensive report saying that the evaluation team really identified the best possible vendor at the best possible price," said Department of Administration Spokesperson, Stephanie Marquis.
State Officials said they used a committee that included educators and educational professionals to choose the Minnesota company.
For now, educators said they'll continue to write letters to government officials, hoping they can make a difference, and hoping to keep those Skyward jobs in our state for students headed down that career path.
