New curling center lands national championship

WAUSAU (WAOW) - Wausau's new curling center has attracted a national championship.

Curling officials announced Tuesday that the center will host the 2014 Senior Men's National Championship.

Officials say the event is the largest curling event held each year in the united states.

And they're excited it's coming to Wausau.

"It's a great opportunity where we bring all these people here to Wausau, we show them what some of the finest facilities are and they're all going to be in one location, it'll be a super event," said Tom Wood, a former Senior Men's National Championship competitor.

Curling officials say they hope to attract 80 teams to Wausau.

The four day competition is set to kick off next February.
