WAUSAU (WAOW) - The Wisconsin Woodchucks on Tuesday named Jameel Ziadeh as the team's manager for the 2013 season.

Ziadeh was the team's hitting coach last season, when the Woodchucks won a franchise record 43 games and earned a berth in the Northwoods League playoffs.

Ziadeh replaces Erik Supplee who stepped down to take a job at Wake Forest University.

"We are excited to bring Jameel back to the Woodchucks. He has great passion for the game along with excellent teaching skills," Woodchucks General Manager Ryan Treu said in a statement. "Our coaching staff from last season did a tremendous job with the players."

Ziadeh now coaches outfielders and hitting at Wayne State. Last year, he coached at Iowa Western Community College and helped guide the Reivers to a 62-6 record and the 2012 NJCAA National Championship.

The Woodchucks' season opener is May 29 against the Green Bay Bullfrogs at Athletic Park.
