WAUTOMA (WAOW) - A 42-year-old rural Wautoma man accused in the March 6 killing of a man found dead at a motel is being kept in jail on a $250,000 cash bond, according to Waushara County court records.
Travis Petersen was charged with first-degree intentional homicide and made his first court appearance via video on Wednesday, the online records say.
Judge Guy Dutcher set Petersen's preliminary hearing for April 5.
Robert Kasun, 50, of rural Wautoma was found dead on March 6 at the Mt. Morris Motel in rural Waushara County.
Invesitgators say an autopsy determined he died of "blunt force injuries" to his head and abdomen.
The motel's owner has said Kasun's body was discovered by a friend. Kasun had moved to the motel just days before his death.
