Outdoors with Lauren: National Archery in the Schools Program

10 year old Serina Zelinka and 12 year old Bailey Bootz both got involved in archery, because of their fathers. Serina says,"He taught me everything and everything about archery. And everything I need to know, and I'm doing really good now." Bailey agrees, "I was hoping to be a bow hunter, but he showed me NASP and I like it a lot better, I'm happy that I switched."
What started out as a hobby, now has them on a national stage in Louisville.  After placing in the top of their age groups, they have qualified for nationals.
Archery isn't your typical sport for young ladies.  These girls realize that it's different, and love the challenge. Bailey explains, "Most girls will play girlier sports, such as swimming, soccer or volleyball, but shooting most girls don't do. NASP is more competitive, and I like being competitive."
Nationals is May 10th. For Serina and Bailey practice means remembering everything their fathers' taught them.
