MARATHON COUNTY (WAOW) -

The man authorities say is responsible for the Marathon County Jail attack has been charged.

Fredrick Morris, 20, of Wausau, is accused of attacking two corrections officers, one of them critically. Julie Christensen, 36, remains in critical condition due to injured suffered in the attack.

Investigators say another officer, Denney Woodward, was also injured. He has since been released from the hospital and is back to work.

According to court documents, Morris told investigators he acted on impulse because he felt disrespected.

Morris made his initial appearance in Marathon County Court by video conference from the Lincoln County Jail. He's charged with three counts of battery. A judge set the cash bond at $250,000.

Newsline 9 tried to reach Morris' attorney for comment,  but our calls were not returned.

Morris is due back in court April 24.

Meanwhile, we're learning more about the condition of Julie Christensen, the officer critically hurt in the attack.

According to court documents, doctors say Christensen is awake from her coma, but faces major challenges.

"She faces months and months of rehabilitation and it is not known at this point if she will return to a normal neurological state or whether she will have permanent disability," said Dr. Andrew Beaumont in a criminal report filed in Marathon County court.
