New developments in case of missing D.C. Everest grad

There are new developments in the case of a missing D.C. Everest graduate. Prosecutors in Minnesota are now asking for harsher punishments for the man accused of her death.

Officials say Kira Trevino has been missing since February, and is presumed dead.

Her husband, Jeffery Trevino, is charged with two counts of murder. The district attorney now says he's pushing for twice the prison time if Trevino is convicted.

Prosecutors say Trevino has not been helpful in finding Kira's body.

"For many of us, that is upsetting and we wish that he would, but the reality is, he's not. He's maintained his innocence, but obviously we believe we can prove beyond a reasonable doubt, that he's guilty of the crimes as charged," said Ramsey County District Attorney John Choi.

Jeffery Trevino's attorney has not returned our calls. Trevino has pleaded not guilty to the charges and is expected in court again next month.

Meanwhile, more searches for Kira Trevino are scheduled for this weekend.
