MERRILL (WAOW) -
On Monday, some Merrill High School students learned how expensive real life can be.
It was all part of a reality simulation put on by the school.
Local businesses, law enforcement and educators took part in the program.
It teaches students about financial responsibility and what to do when the unexpected happens.
"We try to teach them to pay themselves first, you know and start to develop that emergency fund if there's anything that happens, where it might be unexpected, you know a furnace costs $3,000 and a lot of us just don't have that kind of cash laying around," said Teacher, Deb Brunett.
Organizers said this is their third year holding the event.
They said it continues to grow each year and they plan to hold many more.
