Curtis Engelbrecht and Nicholas Lilienthal have been friends since baseball season of their freshman year. But they weren't always teammates. "It's a lot different. You see each other on the soccer field, basketball court. We just wanted to talk but you know, it's a different sport, you just can't do that." Engelbrecht attends Northland Lutheran high, while Lilienthal goes to Wisconsin Valley Lutheran. Both play soccer and basketball, which means the two juniors compete against each other during most of the year. "He's a good friend, but you're competing, you want to beat him. On the soccer field, it's hard to keep up with him. He's a great soccer player. Basketball, same thing, you got to watch out for him." The two schools form a co-op team in the spring, bringing Lilienthal and Engelbrecht together as a one-two punch for the Wildcats. Both say the best part of being teammates on the diamond is watching each other play.
