The stats say it all.
Sam Barber scored 1,238 points in just three seasons in Stevens Point. She shot 46.8% from the floor and 43.1% from three point line throughout her 85 games in Pointers jersey. Now that jersey will be on display in the Ring of Honor at the women's basketball Hall of Fame in Knoxville, Tenn.
"It's a dream come true, that's what I keep telling everybody," raves Barber. "It's a dream come true. It hasn't quite hit me yet. I actually never, ever would have even dreamt this and I couldn't be any happier."
Barber doesn't want the ball to stop bouncing anytime soon, so she'll take her talents to a combine in Minneapolis Wednesday, May 22 to see what her future holds.
"From there, we'll see if someone picks me up. I don't wanna give up or I'll regret it. So I wanna see how far I can go. The day they tell me I have to stop is the day I'll probably stop."
No matter what her the rest of her career has in store, she'll always bleed purple and gold.
"I'm never gonna leave here. I'm always gonna come back and see what's going on. I'm never gonna forget anything that ever happened here. It's too important and it's a huge part of my life."
