Members of the Stevens Point city council unanimously approved creating a new $48 million development project on the city's east side Monday night.
The site will be located near Crossroads Commons and covers about 800 acres of private land.
The city plans to slowly make improvements to roads and infrastructures there, to attract new businesses. That money will then be paid back through taxes once a company moves in.
The Stevens Point mayor told Newsline 9 one company is already negotiating to build a $17 million plant there, but he wouldn't say which company it is.
