MARSHFIELD (WAOW) -
A Marshfield group is collecting donations to help tornado victims in Oklahoma.
Dozens of volunteers with Compassion in Action are gathering at the Shopko in Marshfield this weekend.
They're collecting money and items such as canned food and bottled water to take to Moore, OK.
Volunteers said it's all about lending a hand to people at a time when they need it most.
"There's such compassion in our community as we know, that a tornado could rip through Marshfield in just moments and demolish our community and I think that people here have just been wonderful in terms of their sense of compassion and outpouring of hope as well as care," said Volunteer, Beth Zarnke.
The group will head to Oklahoma in June.
Organizers said they'll spend a week there, handing out donated items and helping families rebuild.
They also said they can use more help. If you'd like to volunteer, visit their website: http://www.mycompassion.info/.
