Father pleads not guilty to endangering son

Posted:

WISCONSIN RAPIDS (WAOW) - An 81-year-old father who police say pointed a loaded pistol at his son in a disagreement over money pleaded not guilty Monday to a felony accusing him of recklessly endangering safety.

Wood County Circuit Judge Todd Wolf ruled prosecutors presented enough evidence during a preliminary hearing for Robert Hass of Wisconsin Rapids to justify three charges against him - second-degree recklessly endangering safety and misdemeanor operating a firearm while intoxicated and disorderly conduct. Hass pleaded not guilty to all three counts, according to online court records.

No one was hurt in the May 9 incident at Hass' home at Maples Mobile Park.

According to investigators, the son was able to flee the home after police arrived. Authorities say Hass then threw a 9mm pistol out of the home and he was arrested.

Police said the disagreement involved some bills either not being paid or not being paid on time.

Hass'  next court appearance is a pretrial conference July 19, according to online court records.
