WAUSAU (WAOW) – The Wausau Police Department says a squad car responding to an early-morning call at a tavern was involved in a crash that sent one person to the hospital.
Lt. Michael Juedes said the crash happened about 1:30 a.m. Friday at the intersection of South Third Avenue and West Street.
The officer was traveling on South Third Avenue on a call to the Sidetracked Bar when the crash occurred, Juedes said.
“His lights and siren were not activated,” the investigator said.
A passenger from the second car was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries, Juedes said.
The officer was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation, and the Marathon County Sheriff's Department was asked to assist, Juedes said.
