Hundreds run to remember Jamison Kampmeyer

Hundreds of people laced up their running shoes to remember a fallen firefighter in Colby.

Jamison Kampmeyer died fighting a fire at the historic Abby Theater in Abbotsford last March.

He was also a lieutenant with the Marathon County Sheriff's Department.

The memorial event is in its second year and included a 5K, 10K and one-mile kids run.

People say the community's support is heartwarming.

"Jamison's frat brothers came in, his family is all here, and it's just really neat to see how much the community supports them and how much he meant to the community," said Terri Wiersma, Race Director.

"To see an entire community turn out like this, to support Jamison and his family, it's amazing," said Heather O'Donnell.

Organizers said the proceeds from the event will go to the Colby Fire Department to help purchase equipment and pay for training.
