WAUSAU (WAOW) -
The city of Wausau now has a humane officer.
Ashlee Bishop began work Monday as humane officer and member of the Wausau Police Department.
As humane officer, Bishop will respond to animal-related calls and create programs to reduce the number of stray animals on the streets.
Michael Loy, Wausau's Human Resource Director, says Bishop has worked at the Humane Society of Marathon County and as a veterinary technician at a local clinic and brings a lot of experience to the newly created position.
