The UW-Stevens Point basketball team held their final youth camp of the summer this week working on the fundamentals of shooting with players from fifth through 12th grade.
The Pointers acted as camp counselors and among them were a few rookies with names that might sound familiar.
DC Everest grad Jared Gjertson and Edgar's Caden Untiedt are both adjusting to the college game. And while they were mentors to the kids taking part at camp, the future Pointers basketball players are excited for the next phase of their careers.
"Right when we come in September, we're going to start working out," Gjertson said. I'm looking forward to being a part of this great tradition. Really working to be a good role player on this team."
Untiedt says the older guys are helping with the transition.
"There's days when we stay after the camp is over and they are getting us to work out and stuff and just being friendly," Untiedt said. "Making us feel at home like we're welcome and stuff and that really helps."
