Pointers basketball season is still months away but the players can't help but think about how good their team might be this year, especially considering the Pointers only lost one senior to graduation.
The UW-Stevens Point men's basketball team won the regular season conference title and made it to the second round of the NCAA tournament. They finished the season ranked 15th in the final D3hoops.com poll.
Jordan Giordana was the only player that the Pointers had to say goodbye to. With the majority of the team coming back, there are high expectations for UW-SP and that's got the players hyped up a little more than usual.
"We're really confident going into this year. Our goal every year is to win a conference title. That's first," Pointers junior guard Joe Ritchay said. "But this year we'd really like to make it deep into the NCAA Tournament. We think we're poised to make a run into the championship. We have all the parts coming back that we need."
Senior center Clayton Heuer is looking to make the most out of his final year with the Pointers.
"It's a special year. Especially for me. Just trying to go out the best way possible," Heuer said.
"And come out on top."
