For Bill Miller of Rhinelander a brat fry is a way to raise money and raise awareness about the homeless.
"Many people don't realize people are homeless they think everything is fine here. But, we do have people in need and that is what we are about, says Miller.
Miller is the President of the Northwoods Alliance for Temporary Housing.
The non-profit opened the Fredrick Place emergency shelter in 2011.
Miller says,"It is changing lives. It is truly, a miracle, that is taking place."
Since opening about 250 men, women and children have sought refuge at the shelter.
Miller says the shelter not only provides a haven for the homeless has united hundreds of volunteers who have rallied behind it.
"They are contributing, they are becoming part of something very special. I think the value is that you show dignity and respect to your fellow man. I believe that is the core that brings us all together,"says Miller
