U.W. Stevens Point students volunteered to help the community this weekend.It was part of the 19th annual Labor of Love event.The event brings new students and current students together to learn more about Stevens Point and lend a hand in the community. Organizers said about 800 students worked at 40 sites. They cleaned up parks, helped paint the health center and made new friends along the way."You know a lot of us are new to Stevens Point, the freshmen are new to Stevens Point, it's giving them an opportunity to see the community and help it out as well," said Grace Hucek, UWSP Junior.School leaders said this year's turnout is the highest in the event's history.They said the last Labor of Love record was set at about 350 students.
