Appleton North (2-0) vs. D.C. Everest (1-1), 7PM at Stiehm Stadium
The Evergreens are coming off a huge 20-17 win over Wisconsin Rapids last week, giving them momentum heading into the first week of conference play. Wyatt Brown scored the game winning TD with 25 seconds left, completing an 81-yard 14-play drive, which was done completely on the ground. Appleton North is one of two teams undefeated in the VFA North.
Kimberly (2-0) at Wausau East (0-2), 7PM at Thom Field
Kimberly is one of two teams undefeated in the VFA North and will take on a struggling Wausau East team. The Lumberjacks were blown out by Marshfield in Week 2, 56-0 as Scott Mallien looks for his first win as head coach of Wausau East.
Fond du Lac (0-2) vs. Marshfield (1-1), 7PM at Beell Stadium
Fond du Lac played the top two teams in the VFA North, Appleton North and Kimberly, in the first two weeks of the season. Marshfield grabbed its first victory of the year with 424 yards of total offense against Wausau East last week. This week could give the Tigers their first victory at home.
Auburndale (1-1) at Edgar (2-0), 7PM
The Apaches are led by the Marawood's best passer, Blake Anderson, who helped Auburndale nab its first win of the year with a 12-for-15, 337 yard performance against Tomahawk. But the 2nd-ranked team in the state in Division 6 has out-scored its first two opponents by a combined 84 points and has yet to allow a score entering week 3.
Phillips (0-2) at Marathon (2-0), 7PM
Marathon is one of three undefeated teams in the Marawood after coming off a 12-0 win over Pittsville. Junior Ethan Seubert scored both touchdowns for the Red Raiders after the team was able to convert on 4th down twice in the game. Phillips has yet to score this season.
Cloverbelt vs. Marawood
Regis (2-0) at Stratford (2-0), 7PM
This is a top-ten match-up in the state among small schools as No. 6 Regis travels to No. 5 Stratford. Regis averages 322 rushing yards per game and has not allowed a point in the second half. Stratford looks to continue a trend as they've started 3-0 in at least seven of the past eight years.
Medford (1-1) at Mosinee (2-0), 7PM – GAME OF THE WEEK
This game pits last year's co-champions in the Great Northern Conference. Medford features 6-foot-3 quarterback Austin Selzberger, who threw for 3 touchdowns last week and has totaled 454 yards this season. The Indians are led by Zach Pyan, who passed for 142 yards and two touchdowns last week against Shawano. Friday is Mosinee's first game at home.
Greenwood/Granton (2-0) at Abbotsford (0-2), 7PM
G2 has been relying on its ground game so far this season, rushing for over 400 yards in each of their two games. G2 has only allowed six points this year and will face an Abbotsford squad still struggling to score. Abbotsford has been outscored 96-13 in 2013.
Newman Catholic (1-1) at Athens (1-1), 7PM
Athens outscored Newman 42-6 last season. The Bluejays feature a relentless ground game led by Lane Tessmer, who rushed for 168 yards so far this year. Newman has a dual-threat QB in senior Eric Bychinski, who has passed the century mark in rushing yards in each of the Fighting Cardinals' first two games.
Owen-Withee (2-0) at Loyal (2-0), 7PM
The Greyhounds gave Athens their first loss of the year and they hope to do the same against another Cloverwood opponent. Owen-Withee shared the conference title with Loyal last year, but suffered a narrow 8-6 loss to the Greyhounds the last time these two teams met.
Colby (2-0) at Spencer/Columbus Catholic (1-1), 7PM
The Hornets are led by QB Cody Meyer, who completed 12 of his 21 passes for 149 yards and two touchdowns this season. Spencer/Columbus Catholic QB Calvin Lenz is 8-for-16 but has also thrown three interceptions.
