Packers linebacker Clay Matthews has
been handed a $15,000 fine for his hit on 49ers quarterback Colin
Kaepernick in Sunday's season opener.
An NFL spokesperson said Friday that
the league's official word is that Matthews being fined for "striking
an opponent late."
When addressing the media on Thursday,
Clay Matthews told reporters, "I'm not a dirty player."
However, the Packers linebacker isn't
the only player from that game being punished financially. San
Francisco linebacker Ahmad Brooks also received a fine for his
roughing the passer penalty on Aaron Rodgers. Brooks will be out
$12,750 for the late hit on Green Bay's pro bowl quarterback.
The league also fined that game's
leading receiver, Anquan Boldin. Late in the third quarter, Boldin
put a late hit on Packers cornerback Jarrett Bush. Boldin is
receiving a very specific $7,875 fine for the penalty.
