Weston prayer death case could go to U. S. Supreme Court

Attorneys for Dale and Leilani Neumann say they plan to appeal the couple's second-degree reckless homicide convictions to the Supreme Court of the United States.

"They'll be pursuing the next legal step which is a petition before the U. S. Supreme Court within the next two weeks," said Byron Lichtstein, an attorney representing the couple.

In July, the Wisconsin Supreme Court said a jury properly convicted the couple in 2009 for praying for their dying daughter instead of seeking medical help for her.

Doctors say 11-year-old Kara Neumann of Weston died in 2008 because she had diabetes and it went untreated.
