Widespread frost and freeze alerts active overnight


Cold temperatures are expected to envelop the region tonight, prompting the National Weather Service to issue widespread frost advisories and freeze warnings.

A frost advisory will be active for Marathon, Wood, Portage, Adams, Juneau, Jackson, Monroe, Clark, Taylor, Shawano and Menominee Counties between midnight and 8 a.m. Sunday.

Additional counties in northwestern Wisconsin are also included in the advisory.

Frost advisories are issued when frost is expected, with the potential to harm or kill sensitive vegetation.

Temperatures tonight are forecast to drop into the low to mid 30s across the region , with the coldest temperatures in the Northwoods.

A freeze warning will be active for Lincoln, Langlade, Price, Vilas, Oneida, Forest and Florence Counties between midnight and 8 a.m. Sunday.

Freeze warnings are issued by the National Weather Service when a stretch of sub-freezing temperatures are anticipated with damage to cold-sensitive vegetation likely.
