MADISON (WAOW) – A sixth candidate has joined the race to replace longtime Republican state Rep. Scott Suder.
Tim Swiggum of Owen filing paperwork with the state Government Accountability Board to seek the job as an independent. He listed his party as “Putting People Ahead of Politics.”
The other candidates are Democrat Kenneth Slezak, a retired small businessman from Neillsville, and four Republicans - Granton bar and grill owner Tom Dahlen, Marshfield attorney Alanna Feddick, Stratford businessman Bob Kulp and former Marshfield alderman Scott Noble.
The special election is Nov. 19 following an Oct. 22 primary election.
Suder, who represented District 69 since 1999, resigned Sept. 3 to take a higher paying job in state government.
District 69 covers all or parts of four counties – Clark, Marathon, Taylor and Wood.
