Those who work on the front lines with victims of domestic violence say creating awareness about the problem is a matter of life and death.
End Wisconsin Domestic Abuse says 89 people died in Wisconsin due to domestic violence over the past two years.
The head of The Women's Community in Wausau says 2013 could end with grim statistics.
"It has been a rough year across the state. We can stop it if we punish perpetrators and provide education to children other victims. We have to let them know there are different paths," says Jane Graham Jennings.
October is designated as Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
