WAUSAU (WAOW) -
Athletes in Wausau participated in the Volley for a Cure event on Tuesday night. This is the 6th time the event has been held.
Wausau East and West faced off on the volleyball court. The athletes helped raise money for breast cancer research. Organizers say it's a great event for the students and the community.
"It brings all the kids together and all the parents from both sides of the town and it packs the gym with pink and it's really a fun event for everybody," said Volley for a Cure Chairwoman Brenda Gerlach.
In the past few years, the event has raised more than $45,000. Most of that stays right here in central Wisconsin. Newsline 9 is a proud sponsor of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
