Packers' wives take field for powder puff game

We're used to seeing the Green and Gold take to the gridiron every Sunday. But on Tuesday, it was more like pink and white. Top Packers players were on the sidelines of the field, cheering on their wives, all to benefit breast cancer research.

The roles were reversed under the lights at Ashwaubenon High School the first ever Pink Powder puff football game, featuring some familiar faces.

"I’ve been his cheerleader and for a day he's going to be my cheerleader," said Tramon Williams' wife, Shantrell.

Packers corner back Tramon Williams and his wife Shantrell put on the event.

"When I first thought about it I was thinking about basketball at first, but then I thought this is a football town," said Shantrell Williams.

Wives of players like Jordy Nelson and Mason Crosby suited up.

"I hope they don't ask me to do any kicking because I’m terrible and that would not bring any honor to the Crosby family name," said Mason Crosby's wife, Molly.

"It gives us a chance to go out and play a game that our husbands play and I think after playing in this cold we're going to appreciate what they do a lot more," said Shantrell Williams.

The event raises money for the American Cancer Society. Specifically, for breast cancer research and awareness.

Many of the packers wives say they've been touched by breast cancer in some way-- a reason that they jumped at the opportunity to take to the field.

"To be out here tonight we get to put on the jerseys and join in with the women who are battling this right now, it's exciting," said Molly Crosby.

Even though players say they were a bit out of their element, they say it's nice to see their wives walk in their shoes.

"I want to see her go through what I go through now and see if she can respect what I do," said Tramon Williams.

The final score was 6-6. Apparently ties are allowed, as long as it's for a good cause.
