Don't take your eyes off Zachary Hext. You may miss the magic.
Hext was just a child when he saw his first magic show, and he knew instantly he'd found his passion.
"I was like well this is something I want to do so ten years later here I am," said Hext who lives in Rhinelander.
He continued learning magic tricks throughout high school. When he graduated, he knew he wanted to continue. With the help of his father Jim, he started a theater in Rhinelander.
"There wasn't really a place for him to go and do his magic so that's the reason why we started the theater," said Jim Hext.
For a while, the Hext Theatre was originally in the Brown Street Mall, but the audience has grown. The new theatre is right across the street from the old one. It can seat 150 people and includes a cafe. It features more than just magic such as comedy and musical shows.
Even though it's taken a lot of work, the family says it's worth it.
"There were a lot of early mornings late nights spending a lot of time in here painting and getting the place in shape," said Jim Hext.
Like the theatre, Zachary hopes to expand his act too and have tricks so impressive he can go national.
"Hopefully within a few years looking at like America's Got Talent but we'll see," said Zachary Hext.
For now, he's making his childhood dream come true with the snap of his fingers.
The theatre will be holding a variety of shows on Fridays for the next few months. The opening magic performance will be November 1.
