Curious customers got an eye full at an Antigo store this month. Blinged-out bras were on display at Schroeder's Gifts. The decorated lingerie was all for a good cause.
Inside Schroeder's in Antigo, all colors, shapes, and sizes are on display. These aren't your average push-up. The blinged-out bras are for a cause.
Employees decorated the bras and, for a dollar a vote, customers pick their favorite.
"I voted for the mirror bra," said Becca Kaegi, an Antigo customer.
"We have 18 different bras and so it's amazing, it's hard to pick, they're all so good," said Judy Schroeder, Schroeder's Gifts co-owner.
They might not be practical to wear, but they get people talking about a serious issue.
"When they see those bras, they think, 'Oh, I better remember to get my mammogram,'" said Schroeder.
Schroeder started the fundraiser in her store last year.
"My mother passed away from breast cancer 15 years ago and so I always like to do something and give something back," said Schroeder.Schroeder
isn't sure if her mother would approve of the bras.
"She was Southern and very proper so I hope she's not rolling in her grave," said Schroeder.
But she's proud of the result.
"We're thrilled because we were hoping to get $500 at the most."
Voting for the bras ended Friday night. The blinged-out bras raised $1,361. It's all going to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
