Dozens of children and families flooded downtown Wausau Saturday to get a head start on trick-or-treating.
About 40 local businesses opened their doors to trick-or-treaters and handed out snacks. Movie characters, super heroes and even the gang from Neverland showed up for the event. Organizers say the trick-or-treating is a great way to bring businesses and the community together.
"We always want people from the community to come in and occupy our businesses, so this is something we can do that's just fun no expectations but a way to give back to everyone that comes and visits us," said Martina Strehlow, the owner of Clay Corner Studio.
Organizers say over 500 trick-or-treaters stopped by. They're hoping to hold the event again next year.
