MERRILL (WAOW) - The Merrill Municipal Airport has received $154,000 in state and federal funds to help purchase snow removal equipment for the airport, according to the state Department of Transportation.
The city's share of the project is about $4,000, with the money being used to buy a "bi-directional" tractor with a snow blower and loader, said Eric Johnson, a DOT airport development engineer.
The state will provide $4,000, with $150,000 coming from the Federal Aviation Administration, Johnson said.
The equipment is to be delivered in February.
Merrill Municipal Airport, one of 98 facilities included in the Wisconsin State Airport System Plan, is classified as a medium general aviation airport, supporting single and multi-engine aircraft, including planes commonly used by businesses, the DOT said.
