Temperatures are expected to be low during the weekend but that isn't stopping hunters.
Owners at Central Wisconsin Firearms in Wausau say hunters may be moving around more to keep warm and that means the deer will also be on the run.
Store owners say even though the hunt is a week later than usual, hunters will still be filling the woods.
"It's not just about hunting the white tail, it's about family time, it's about traditions. It's huge in this state," said Dr. Frederick Prehn, the owner of Central Wisconsin Firearms.
The Department of Natural Resources estimated more than 450,000 licenses were sold this year.
