RIB MOUNTAIN (WAOW) -
Granite Peak is getting ready for a big weekend on the slopes.
Ski officials say the cold weather has allowed them to open more runs than usual.
They expect close to 1,500 people to show up this weekend. That's compared to less than 1,000 in years past.
"We have an amazing percentage open," said Chris Pingle, Snow Sports Education Director. "17 runs. I don't think we've had this many open on Thanksgiving weekend ever. So we're off to an amazing start."
Ski officials say they hope to open all runs by Christmas.
