97-year-old Marshfield business owner closes up shop

MARSHFIELD (WAOW) - After almost 60 years in business, 97-year-old Marge Wolf will be closing her store in Marshfield.

"I can't do it anymore," said Wolf. "I'm not able to. Mentally I thought I could, but physically I can't. That's the reason I'm selling it. It's not easy. It's going to be hard."

This summer, Wolf found herself in the national spotlight after two people tried to rob her store, Wolf's Market. Instead of backing down, Wolf stood up to them.

"He said, open up that cash register," said Wolf. "I said, I'm not opening it up for you or anybody. If you want something. There's a Tootsie Roll, you can have all you want."

It's that spirit her friends will miss most.

"The whole community is behind her and loved coming here when they were little," said Janet Dahlkey, a neighbor. "We still hear stories about her."

The store's last day will be on Friday. Marge says the store will be turned into an apartment.
