RIB MOUNTAIN (WAOW) -
Children grabbed their fishing rods for some outdoor fun Sunday.
The Wausau Noon Optimist Club held its annual Youth Fisheree for the 40th year. Organizers say it's a great opportunity for the entire family to have some fun. To combat the cold, hot dogs and hot chocolate were served.
"It's a nice outing and even though it's been cold the last couple years, you get to get out and do something and not just sit in the house," said DuWayne Witter, the co-chair of the fisheree.
At the end, organizers vote on the Fish of the Day. The child who wins the prize gets to take their fish home as a mounted souvenir, courtesy of a local taxidermist.
