WAUSAU (WAOW) -
Wausau West High School is gearing up to host a major archery tournament. It will feature hundreds of shooters in the state.
This is the eighth National Archery in the Schools Program tournament. Organizers say 55 schools will be competing, including Wausau East and Wausau West. They say having a tournament like this is putting the high school on the map. It's also bringing more attention to the sport.
"Archery's addicting,” said Troy Fabry, the Wausau West archery club coach. “It's just one of those sports you just can't get enough of and anybody can do it. It doesn't matter what race you are or size or abilities, disabilities anybody can pick up a bow and shoot it."
The tournament features fourth graders through seniors in high school. The two-day competition starts April 4.
