Another round of winter weather hits Northwoods hard

MINOCQUA (WAOW) - They say April showers bring May flowers. But the question is, what does April snow bring?

I can't even because I can't say those words,” joked Sandy Mettler of Eagle River.

A mix of winter weather blasted the Northwoods. In Minocqua snow covered sidewalks, cars and streets. For what felt like the 100th time many people found themselves outside, shoveling.

Just a rotten winter. One we won't forget,” said Jim Savada of Tomahawk.

Even those who love winter say this weather needs to take a hike.

Who seriously likes this on April 16th? Not us,” said Mettler.

In fact, Minocqua tourism leaders don't either. They say this late snow really hurts business because there's not much to do.

I think people, just in their minds, they're ready to move on,” said Kim Baltus, executive director of the Minocqua Area Chamber of Commerce.

Snowmobile trails have been closed for weeks, and the snow shoes are put away. That doesn't leave many choices for outside fun.

I know a lot of people are doing some spring cleaning, they're doing some paint projects inside because you can't really do anything outside,” said Baltus.

With just a few days before Easter, normally people are getting their Easter eggs ready for the big Easter egg hunt. But, with this latest round of weather, some may want to think about chocolate eggs, inside.

Definitely have some good indoor plans,” said Baltus.

Because it seems this winter just won't quit.
