Appointed sheriff to seek election to the job

RHINELANDER (WAOW) – Some 16 months after being appointed sheriff, Oneida County Sheriff Grady Hartman announced he would seek election to the job in November.

Hartman, a Republican, has been in law enforcement for 20 years and joined the sheriff's department in 1999 as a road deputy.

“I strongly believe in serving the community that my family and I live in,” Hartman said in a statement Monday.

Hartman was appointed sheriff in January 2013 by Gov. Scott Walker to succeed Jeff Hoffman who retired. Hoffman was appointed to the job in 2005.
