Family refuses to give up hope in search for missing dogs

WAUSAU (WAOW) - A central Wisconsin family refuses to give up searching for their dogs. The Dundore's two German shepherds went missing from Birnamwood in January. Despite how long it's been, the family says they believe the dogs have defied the odds.

They say it's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog.

Animals will do just about anything to survive,” said Ray Dundore.

Its been more than three months since Zoe and Sasha went missing.

I'll tell ya, the past three and half months have felt like seven months," said Dundore.

But, he believes they're still out there.

She knows how to keep herself alive,” said Dundore of his oldest dog, Sasha.

The dogs have been spotted in Wausau about two dozen times, all over the city. The family has printed out more than 5,000 fliers. When the dogs were reported seen at Zilman's Meat Market in February, the Dundore's camped out.

We don't know how they're doing it, but they are,” said Dundore.

But, so far, nothing has worked.

We think they're going between food sources," Dundore explained.

The most recent spotting was last week on Wausau's north side near A&W Restaurant.

People are still seeing them, and giving us their sightings, it gives us, it builds the hope," said Dundore.

But this winter has been far from mild, with record breaking cold. Dundore says, it doesn't matter, his dogs have found a way to survive

I'm gonna do this because I know they're still alive. I couldn't give up on them,” Dundore said.

The Dundore's say they're in the process of setting up game cameras in the area. If you see these dogs, the family asks you call them at (715) 297-3109.
